Schutzhund Program

Topline German Shepherd Dog Club of IL is a member club of the GSDCA-Working Dog Association. We regularly host WDA sanctioned Schutzhund Trials. Our Schutzhund Trials and Training are open to all breeds. For those who are not interested in protection training, we also offer the opportunity to train and trial for the Obedience and/or Tracking Titles. Contact us for more information.

Our Schutzhund Training is on Tuesday evenings at Arabian Knights Farm
in Willowbrook, IL located at 6526 South Clarendon Hills Rd.
Schutzhund Obedience runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Protection is from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Cost is $15.00 for Obedience only; $25.00 for obedience & protection or protection only. Additional dogs for same handler is $15.00.

Our schutzhund training group is a small supportive group of Schutzhund enthusiasts that focus on the total dog.  Our dogs live in our homes and our training philosophy is based on building a positive relationship with our dogs through positive teaching.  We believe that a properly trained Schutzhund dog is not only successful on the trial field but also a stable and valued member of their families and communities.

Jason Opiola is Topline’s Schutzhund Training Coordinator and helper. He is not only a talented trainer and handler but also a knowledgeable and patient teacher and coach. Jason is a Certified National Helper for the GSDCA-Working Dog Association. 

Jason began his career as a decoy for local police departments . Shortly thereafter he became involved in Schutzhund. He has studied with many of the top schutzhund trainers and competitors in the country. Jason is an accomplished handler and helper who trains, titles and competes with his own dogs. He is a life long learner, always working to expand and grow his knowledge and abilities. Jason brings a balanced approach to dog training and has a strong passion for the sport of schutzhund and the German Shepherd Dog.

One of which is that Schutzhund will official be IPO (International Utility Dog).
