Intermediate Obedience Class (Novice)
Length: On-going. This is a drop-in class, there are no starting/ending dates and you do not need to sign up to attend.
Intermediate Obedience (Novice) is intended for handler/dog teams who wish to sharpen the performance and precision of their obedience skills or prepare for competitive obedience.
This class reinforces basic obedience commands and positive behavior taught during other classes and incorporates more advanced skills while working in an environment with distractions. Advanced skills include: moving sits/moving downs, stand for exam, long sits/long downs, proper handler footwork, and perfecting positioning of dogs and handlers. Confidence building exercises, socialization, and the "reliability" of the dogs’ response to commands is also stressed.
Participants are encouraged to enter competition practice runs and correction clinics to build confidence in their ability to perform in a competitive environment. Competition rules and scoring will be explained and discussed in this class.
